Frequently Asked Questions
Ingredients
No, lye does not remain in soap after the cold process. During the cold process of making soap, lye (sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide) is mixed with oils or fats to initiate the saponification process. Saponification is the chemical reaction that occurs between the lye and oils/fats, resulting in the formation of soap and glycerin.
The lye is consumed in the saponification process, meaning it reacts with the oils/fats to form soap molecules. Once the saponification process is complete, there should be no remaining lye in the soap. The chemical reaction ensures that the lye is fully transformed into soap.
Yes! Our soaps are crafted with a focus on using natural and gentle ingredients. We strive to create products that are gentle on the skin and suitable for all skin types.
We use a combination of nourishing plant-based oils, such as coconut oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, castor oil, hazelnut oil, and mango butter to create a rich and moisturizing base for our soaps. We also incorporate natural ingredients like essential oils, botanical extracts, and plant-based colorants for their various benefits and to enhance the sensory experience.
We choose not to use palm oil in our soaps due to the environmental and social concerns associated with its production. Palm oil cultivation has been linked to deforestation, biodiversity loss, and greenhouse gas emissions, leading to significant environmental impacts. Additionally, there have been reports of human rights abuses and unsustainable practices in some palm oil-producing regions. As part of our commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing, we opt for alternative ingredients and oils that have a lower environmental footprint and promote responsible practices.
cruelty-free
Our soap is considered vegan because it is crafted without any animal-derived ingredients. We do not use substances such as animal fats, beeswax, or honey. Instead, we rely on plant-based oils, butters, and natural ingredients to create our vegan-friendly soap.
Yes, absolutely! We are committed to creating products that are both vegan and cruelty-free.
Yes, many of our customers with sensitive skin have found our vegan soaps to be gentle and non-irritating. However, since everyone's skin is unique, we recommend conducting a patch test before using a new product, especially if you have specific skin concerns or allergies.
eco-friendly
We are committed to creating products that are not only vegan but also environmentally friendly. We strive to minimize our impact on the planet by using sustainably sourced ingredients, recyclable and compostable packaging materials, and reducing waste wherever possible.
Packaging
Yes!! We have worked hard to source packaging that leaves a positive impact!
We proudly use 100% compostable mailers and kraft boxes, recycled FSC tissue paper and washi tape with vegetable based inks, all the way down to the 100% compostable and recyclable shipping labels made with FSC-certified paper that are finished with non-toxic adhesive.
Care
To ensure the longevity of your soap, it's best to keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity. We also recommend using a soap dish or a well-draining soap holder to allow the soap to dry between uses, as this helps prevent it from becoming soft and prolongs its lifespan.
